Joseph Banks
Aged Care Facility
The Joseph Banks Aged Care facility is owned and operated by Retirees WA (Inc) which traces its origins back to the Invalid and Old Age Pensioners’ Association founded in Perth in 1933. Known for most of its existence as the Australian Pensions’ League, we built a proud tradition of articulating the interests of seniors while facilitating much needed services for the elderly in Western Australia.
Retirees WA has operated an aged care home since 1970. Our first purpose built home Murlali Lodge was designed to give maximum comfort, contentment and support the wellbeing of every individual residing there. Murlali Lodge ran successfully until 2006 when the service was transferred to a new contemporary building in Canning Vale.
Aware of the changing times and the expectations of a new generation a modern facility was planned and the current facility Joseph Banks Aged Care was opened in April 2006. The Joseph Banks building offered 63 rooms, all with private bathrooms and an open plan expansive layout. The demand for accommodation at Joseph Banks saw Retirees WA design and add a new 18 room wing which opened in May 2015 and the facility now offers 81 single rooms all ensuite.
Our Facilities
The residents living in our facility have access to a range of different communal spaces totalling approximately 860m² inside and 57m² undercover areas outside. The facility has been designed as an open plan living environment within five distinct wings.
